What is a
Moon sign?
The Moon moves faster than anything else in the sky. It passes through all twelve signs in about four weeks, so it sits in each one for two or three days. The sign it was in when you were born is your Moon sign.
Astrologers read the Sun as how you shine and the Moon as how you feel: what calms you, what you need from the people close to you, and how you react before you have time to think.
The phase matters too. A Moon born just after the new Moon and one born at the full Moon sit in the same sign but in a very different light, and the chart shows both.

Usually, yes. The Moon stays in one sign for about two and a half days, so on most dates it is in the same sign all day. If it changed sign on your birthday we show both signs and the hour it moved, and the time decides.
The Sun sign comes from the time of year and is the sign most people know. The Moon sign comes from where the Moon was, which changes every few days, so people born in the same month often have different Moon signs.
It usually happens when the Moon changed sign on that day. Without the birth time, or with the wrong time zone or daylight saving, a calculator can land on either side of the change.
